Been a while since I've played LOTRO. Have a lowish-level (20) Warden (lost interest in) & Champ, but not tied to them. Particularly keen on playing a DPS class with some group utility for 3-man/6-man content (which I've not experienced yet!). Looks like there's been some fairly big changes to how classes play and the viability of classes in certain roles.
- Captain: previous understanding was that it was a buffer first, and fairly average at DPS, tanking and heals. Has this changed? Competitive DPS in 3/6 mans? Decent pace for solo levelling? I'm somewhat keen on playing a Captain if levelling is enjoyable and if it's decent at solo'ing content. Being popular for groups is always a plus too.
- Champ: felt pretty solid before. Not super durable but good ST + AoE DPS. About the same from what I’ve read? Enjoyed playing this.
- Guard: durable, but very low DPS? I understand it’s good for solo’ing landscape, 3/6 mans, but pretty slow to level?
- Burglar: great ST burst + DPS, better group utility than before, “so-so” for solo’ing group content, ?? for levelling? I enjoy complex classes, although positioning can be a pain when considering latency from AU.
- RK: great DPS, can be mobile (lightning), somewhat fragile - I assume good for levelling, good for group content due to DPS and poor at solo’ing group content?
Any corrections on the above and/or suggestions?
